Ting Alvesteffer, MSN, RN, has worked in a hospital most of her career and as nurse for more than 20 years. Currently, she is the Clinical Informaticist at StoneSprings Hospital.  Ting is a compassionate person who believes in making small, meaningful contributions to those in need.  Donating blood is an act of kindness that she has been doing on a regular basis for many years.

“I donate blood regularly as my way of giving back to the community,” said Ting. “It makes me feel good knowing that someone who is very sick may need a blood transfusion and my donation may ease their suffering,” she said.

Ting is among other StoneSprings Hospital colleagues who donate blood on a regular basis to help someone in a life-or-death situation.  By joining together to be part of something bigger connects our colleagues to people they may never meet but whose lives they might change forever.

The blood drives sponsored by StoneSprings Hospital are set up by the American Red Cross Blood at the nearby Arcola Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) Annex in Sterling, VA.  “This location is so close to the hospital that it makes it easy and convenient to make an appointment and donate blood,” said Ting.

For a listing of dates and times for the blood drives throughout the year at the AVFD visit the American Red Cross website at www.redcross.org.
