Partial hospitalization program

We offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) at our outpatient center, Tucker Wellness & Recovery Center at 500 Hioaks. A PHP is a structured form of mental health treatment providing intensive support to individuals who do not require 24/7 inpatient care but still need a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy. It provides individuals with a supportive and therapeutic environment while allowing them to return home each day. It acts as a bridge between inpatient and outpatient mental health care, and research shows patients have the best outcomes when they participate in the full spectrum of care, which includes inpatient hospitalization, PHP, intensive outpatient program (IOP), outpatient therapy and psychiatry.

Key features:

  • Intensive therapy — PHPs offer a range of therapeutic services in a group setting, including processing emotions, psychoeducation, pet therapy, coping skills, and healthy activities.
  • Group milieu — Along with providing the safety and structure needed for healing and growth, individuals can expect to learn alongside peers and be afforded much-needed social interaction designed to promote wellness and health through belonging and connection.
  • Medication management — For those who require medication as part of their treatment plan, PHPs provide medication management services. Individuals meet with a psychiatrist on-site, ensuring they receive the appropriate medications and dosage under professional supervision.
  • Flexible scheduling — Participants attend during the day and return home at night.
  • Multi-disciplinary approach — A team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and counselors, work together to provide personalized care to participants depending on their needs.

Who can benefit from PHP?

PHPs are beneficial for individuals who may not need full-time inpatient care but require more structured and intensive treatment than traditional outpatient therapy.

Individuals who benefit typically have a chronic mental illness such as major depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders.

Our adult PHP program treats individuals who are 18 years and older. We offer 2 PHP cohorts that meet from 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday.

Our adolescent PHP program treats youth ages 13-17. One cohort meets Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Interested in PHP?

Individuals can easily join our Adult or Adolescent PHP by calling to schedule a free in-person assessment. Online scheduling is also available.

Intensive outpatient program (IOP)

We offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) at our outpatient center, Tucker Wellness & Recovery Center at 500 Hioaks. An IOP is a secondary step-down program for individuals, providing intensive support and therapy three times a week for three hours a day, allowing them to continue living at home and tending to their daily responsibilities. It bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, offering a flexible and highly supportive solution.

Key features:

  • Comprehensive therapy — IOPs consist of group therapy, including the processing of day-to-day thoughts, feelings, events, psychoeducation, and a therapeutic activity or life skills training. A multi-disciplinary team of therapists, social workers and psychiatrists work with an individual to provide holistic care in a group milieu.
  • Treatment time — IOPs are less time-consuming per day than PHP, allowing individuals to manage responsibilities at home, school, and/or work. The program runs longer, offering more opportunities for patients to meet individualized treatment goals, build a support network, and link to community resources.
  • Faster outcomes — IOPs are crucial to the success of patients’ long-term prognoses, as they reduce re-admission rates for inpatient hospitalizations.

Who can benefit from IOP?

IOPs are beneficial for individuals who are not in need of inpatient psychiatric care or who need the intensity of a PHP program but would still benefit from more structure and treatment time than outpatient therapy.

Individuals seen typically have a chronic mental illness such as major depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders.

Our adult IOP program treats individuals who are 18 years old and older. We offer three adult IOP programs. Two cohorts meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am to noon, and one meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Our Adolescent IOP program treats youth 13 to 17 years old and is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00am to noon.

Interested in IOP?

Individuals interested in Adult or Adolescent IOP can call or go online to schedule an assessment. We strive to offer one of our group placements within 24-48 hours.
