Richmond, Va. — HCA Virginia, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, recently invested $40,000 in medical education through the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Medical Education Campus Fund. The donation will allow the foundation to increase the learning space for students enrolled in nursing, sonography, radiologic technology, and phlebotomy programs.

“At HCA Virginia, we are invested in our existing nursing workforce and expanding the pipeline of qualified healthcare professionals,” said Dr. William Lunn, president of HCA Healthcare Capital Division. “We are proud to collaborate with partners like Northern Virginia Community College to improve the delivery of quality care in the future and enhance our community’s healthcare workforce.”

HCA Virginia also provides opportunities for mentorship and collaboration for NOVA students during their clinical training at its Northern Virginia facilities, Reston Hospital Center and StoneSprings Hospital Center.

The NOVA Foundation’s 2024-2026 strategic plan focuses on several pillars, including investing in its Medical Education Campus.

"We are truly grateful for HCA Healthcare's leadership investment of $40,000 in NOVA's Medical Education Campus Fund,” said Kelly Persons, executive director of the NOVA Educational Foundation. “This funding is crucial for acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, innovative learning resources and the highest caliber teaching faculty. These resources are essential to meeting the urgent need for skilled healthcare professionals in our region, including nurses, surgical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists and other in-demand medical specialties.”

This donation follows other recent investments in the community by HCA Healthcare Capital Division, such as a $25,000 grant to Communities in Schools of Petersburg and $64,000 in grants to charities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and New Hampshire.
