Gastrointestinal surgery

Our gastroenterology program coordinates gastrointestinal (GI) surgery. Our specialists provide advanced technology, new therapies and minimally invasive procedures to treat GI conditions. When needed, our gastroenterologists collaborate with other specialists, such as gynecological surgeons, to perform rectal prolapse repairs and other complex abdominal procedures.

Reston Surgery Center is our facility that offers same-day surgical procedures. The center offers services in the medical tower building on the campus of Reston Hospital Center. In this way, we enable you to receive expert surgical care along with home-based recovery.

Interventional radiology offers another avenue for treating basic to complex conditions. Our interventional radiologists use a range of image-guided technology to perform minimally invasive procedures. These procedures include computerized tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X-rays or ultrasounds which our specialists combine with specially created tools.

We are pioneers in minimally invasive surgical procedures. Because of our commitment to use the latest methods, our facility was the first hospital in Virginia to offer a robot-assisted surgical guidance system for spine surgery and knee replacement surgery.

Often, rehabilitation is an essential component of your recovery after surgery. If physical therapy and rehabilitation are needed, our therapists will begin working with you as soon as you are able. We also offer outpatient rehab services to support you in your recovery after you leave the hospital.
